The Arch - Minneapolis Lifestyle Website

The Arch is an exploration of a new version of a lifestyle website, specifically for my hometown, Minneapolis. This project was for a web and mobile content development course where I was tasked to create an idea, content, and website.

This envisionment of the lifestyle website included an organizational structure around four topics; Eats & Drinks, Shows, Events, and Outdoors. Each article is tagged with a badge of each of these topics that it applies to.

Logo for the Arch website

The logo for The Arch and the name of the website takes inspiration from the Stone Arch Bridge on the Mississippi River. It embodies the symbolism around the grown of what Minneapolis is today. St. Anthony Falls powered the mills, the bridge was built to transport, and today it embodies a sunny afternoon walk across the river.

It was necessary for the icons that are to call out categories of stories needed to be clear and identifiable. To achieve this, small, simple, vector badges were created to be the icons for each of these categories.

The Arch was built with Bootstrap to be mobile friendly. It was assumed that many users would browse the site when out looking for the next thing to do. All content and images were produced by myself, a requirement for the course this project was a part of.
